Brigham Young University Wellness Center: Nutrition Coach
I currently work as a Nutrition Coach at Brigham Young University's Student Wellness Center. My services offers 30 minute counseling sessions to BYU's faculty, staff, and students. The topics discussed are general healthy eating, basic weight management, and sports nutrition. This experience is an excellent practice for one-on-one counseling where I can enhance my communication and interpersonal skills. Along with coaching, I contributed my design skills using the program InDesign to create posters and handouts in order to help advertise our services. (70 hours thus far)
Utah/Nevada Dairy Council: Representative
Representing Utah/Nevada Dairy Council I traveled to high school sporting events (basketball, football, soccer, and wrestling) throughout the Utah Valley promoting the benefits of chocolate milk as a recovery beverage post exercise. I help set up the Chocolate Milk booth, stock chocolate milk supplies and pass out informational handouts to families and students in the crowd. I also assist ensuring that each athelete receives chocolate milk after their exercise. (83 hours thus far)
Brigham Young University's Preschool & Kindergarten: Secretary
As secretary for BYU's Preschool & Kindergarten, I managed the flow of the office with the Director, coworkers, students, and parents of students. I organized the office, library and kitchen to maintain an orderly environment. For the daily snack, I managed food & supplies for the kitchen while maintaing a safe environment. I interacted with parents and children to provide excellent customer service and often problem sovled when issues arose. I created portfolios for each student containing their best works along with their pictures taken throughout the year. Through this job, I learned how to interact professionally with adults as well as relate to children. I learned how to manage an important role to keep the school running efficiently. I learned how to use my critical thinking skills to prioritize work load and determine what would be best for the school to get accomplished.
Dr. Justesen's Family Dentistry: Receptionist
As a receptionist for Dr. Justesen's Family Dentistry, I learned the importance of being the face of a company by providing welcoming customer service to patients and insurance companies through phone calls and emails. My duties involved organizing patient charts and ensuing that information recorded by Doctors, Dental Hygienists and Dental Assistants were accurately recorded. When problems arose, I used critical thinking skills to find the solutions to various issues.
Jaeger Family: Au Pair
For 9 months, I worked as an Au Pair in Nidau, Switzerland for the Jaeger Family. I was fully responsible for four children from 7am-6pm. My duties included cleaning, organizing, cooking, and ensuring that the children completed their responsibilities. While I was there, I studied German and traveled to 8 different countries learning about different cultures and different lifestyles.
