Sutter Tracy Community Hospital: Children's Health Fair Volunteer
In Tracy, California, Sutter Tracy Community Hospital hosts an anual Children's Health fair. My efforts contributed 100 hours towards organizing booth participants, events, and representing the First Aid team for the entire day. This experience taught me how to effectively communicate and involve the community to work together towards one purpose: enhance children's health in the community.
Sutter Tracy Community Hospital Volunteer
I contributed 120 hours of community service to the people of Tracy, California at the Sutter Tracy Community Hospital. I observed and assisted with the Clinical Dietitian prioritize and organize charts, discuss patient overall care during rounds, visited patients one-on-one, adjusted diets when reccomended and approved by Doctors, and became familiar with the technological world of charting using ESHA.
Assisted with: charting, visiting patients, imputing information into computer system ECHO, observing nutrition counseling, classifying priority patients, incorporating restricted specified menus to qualified patients.

Mothers Group Coordinator
So far, I have committed 150 hours to the formation of a Mothers Group in the community of Provo, Utah. The purpose of the Mothers Group is to unify student mothers in an organization where they receive social interactions, assistance through difficult times, nutritional counsel, and a consistant support group. I recruited 30 student mothers and pregnant women to join the organization. I created lesson plans to help promote the benefits of breast milk for infants and mothers. With the assistance from participants, I help orchestrate fun activities for mothers and children. In addition, I educate the benefits of joining the WIC program for pregnant mothers & children and help mothers find more information about the program. This experience taught me how to organize a purposeful group for peers in my community to improve social interactions and overall health for members involved.
Food & Care Coalition
The mission of the Food & Care Coalition is to alleviate hunger and diminish the plights of poverty for those who enter. Through 15 hours of humbling volunteer work, I helped assemble and distribute hot meals to homeless individuals to help satisfy their hunger.
Community Action Services and Food Bank
Community Action Services and Food Bank is a program that helps families and individuals who are in poverty receive food assistance and self-reliance advice. For 20 hours, I assisted sorting and assembling canned food pacakages food for Meals on Wheels to deliver to low-income elderly individuals.
Orem Senior Friendship Center
The Orem Senior Friendship Center is a facility for senior citizens to socialize and receive nutritional assistance. Through my experience there, I volunteered 32 hours preparing, assembling, and serving hot plates of food for lunch. I socially interacted with participants and enjoyed learning about their life experiences. At the end of each meal, I helped clean and sanitize the kitchen.
Preschool & Kindergarten Snack Coordinator
For 2 1/2 years, I spent 450 hours volunteering at Brigham Young University's Preschool and Kindergarten. I worked for as a secretary and I volunteered to help prepare snack for 120 preschoolers. I helped maintain cleanliness and order to the kitchen, ordered food in bulk, stocked food in pantry, and prepared food for service in safe conditions. I helped standardize recipes and compile the recipes into a master Cook Book that could be helpful for future snack helpers.
BYU Student Dietetic Association Member
As a member of the Brigham Young University Student Dietetics Association, I committed 50 hours volunteering with health fair booths to promote nutrition and advertise the BYU Dietetics Program, collected cans for food drive, collected essential items to families in need, and wrote thank you letters for sponsors.
